Gatlinburg Veterans Day Celebration Honors Our Nations Heroes

The city of Gatlinburg will salute our nation’s veterans on November 11, 2010 during the Gatlinburg Veterans Day Celebration. The free admission event begins at 11am on the Plaza at Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies.
The event will feature Brigadier General Robin B. Akin as the keynote speaker. Gatlinburg is an official Regional Site for the Observance of Veterans Day as designated by the Veterans Day National Committee, Department of Veterans Affairs, and is one of two cities in Tennessee to receive this distinction. This designation affiliates the Gatlinburg Veterans Day Celebration with activities taking place at the National Veterans Day Observance at Arlington National Cemetery.Activities will include patriotic salutes to veterans, patriotic music from Knoxville Opera, Gatlinburg-Pittman High School Band and Walters State Community College, as well as a military flyover, and American Bald Eagle presentation.
The Gatlinburg Veterans Day Celebration is sponsored by the City of Gatlinburg, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, Park Vista, Citizens National Bank, Hard Rock Café and Knoxville Opera.
