Hate to say it but The Edgewater has lost it's charm for us . The staff is great and very friendly at all times . Cleaning staff does a great job and very professional . I guess our main concern are the large groups of youth that we're there the time of our visit . We've been using the Edgewater for at least the last 12 years and have never had one complaint so this is legit for sure . These kids were the absolute worst . They took over the whole hotel . Played on the elevators at all times . Ran up and down the halls . Banged on doors . You get the gist at this point.... Left a day earlier than we had to just to get away from them . Their adult supervision just turned them loose I suppose with no regard . Again the hotel can only do so much to control this and I did not directly complain until we checked out on 1/14/18 . The man at the desk stated the same thing I did but in softer words for sure . At what point do you take action and put people out or at least make them feel like they will be put out ? After 12 years of patronage it's time to say goodbye to the Edgewater .

Stayed here with our youth group after Christmas 2017 for Xtreme Winter. Great hotel! Clean and cozy! Staff was not very friendly at all! Front desk was nice and friendly but other staff was very unfriendly. Nice rooms and great location! Would stay again but they need to weed out a few grounds workers.

My family and I stayed here for one night before we were able to get into our cabin rental. This hotel is easy to access and has convenient parking. It's also really close to everything in downtown Gatlinburg - next door to The Mysterious Mansion and across the street from one of the chair lift rides. The room was clean and comfortable and had a decent view. I chose this hotel since I wanted to find one with an indoor pool for my kids and the photos of the pool looked nice. The pool was clean and warm and it was nice to swim both indoors and outdoors in December. Check in and out was quick and easy and the staff was very friendly. They also allowed me to keep my car in the garage past check-out time since we weren't done shopping and looking around yet. I'm not sure if this is something they always do or if it's because they weren't very full. However, if we would have had to move, there's a public parking lot right across the street. We only had one complaint and that was the speed of the elevators. It seemed to take a really long time to get the elevator to our floor -- we overheard some other guests complain as well. Not exactly a deal breaker, but just a minor annoyance. I would definitely choose this hotel again should we ever return to the area. I would also recommend it to others, especially those who have children who like to swim.

Some may recall that I left a not so pleasant review of The Edgewater Hotel in November of 2016. As I am aware that anyone or any place can have an off day we decided to give them another try this past November (2017). I'm happy to report that they made out better this trip than last year. The room was cleaner and everything worked in the bathroom. The front desk personnel seemed to be more responsive and wanted to make sure quests were happy as well. A couple of draw backs that I'm aware of that may help with small issues. 1) The parking - this is a very tight parking garage and they don't police it to make sure that the smaller cars park on the upper level (as specified by signage in the garage) nor do they make sure that only handicap people park in the handicap designated spots. And even when it is reported that non-guests are parking in the garage they don't seem to do anything about it. I personally seen an out of towner park in the garage taking up premium space so they could walk across the street to the chili cook-off and reported it and the staff did nothing to remedy it. I guess that means that we all have free parking there when needed so don't feel like you have to pay $10 to park anywhere anymore. 2) The breakfast is still not all that much. Yes, it's still the normal sausage and scrambled eggs but that's about it. Not much of a variety from day to day. this is something they DO have control over and should consider throwing in a little variety occasionally other than just on a Saturday where they throw in a little tasteless gravy. Other than those two relatively small issues I feel they made great improvements from last year and I'll definitely be back again in 2018..
