Description

from Biplane Rides
Come fly with us and experience the romance and adventure of flying in an open cockpit biplane! Take a nostalgic flight into yesteryear in an authentic Waco Biplane with a modern day Barnstormer. Breathtaking birds-eye views of the Great Smoky Mountains and the surrounding area provide an incredible photo opportunity. All ages are welcome and two can fly for the price of one, so bring a friend and share the fun.

The airplane is a 1927 Waco Model 10 Straightwing, pronounced “Wah-Co” like taco. “Way-Co” is a town in Texas.

The experience is like riding in a time machine that takes you back to the Golden Age of Aviation. Where you can touch the fabric that holds you aloft, smell the oil and hear the roar of a radial engine as you fly with the wind blowing through your hair. Unlike an aircraft in a museum, roped off from the public, you can climb aboard this airplane and experience what it was like to be a Barnstormer from a bygone era!

"Nice Flight in a Cool Plane"

A friend and myself wanted to go on the flight but we exceeded the weight limit by a little so less fuel was put into the plane to accommodate us which was awesome. The flight was smooth and a great experience. We really enjoyed seeing everything from a different vantage point and it was really cool to fly in a vintage plane instead of a new replica. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended. Thanks for the fun experience.

Had a ton of fun on this airplane ride! The pilot personally restored this 1920-era biplane. He has immense knowledge of early aviation history and is passionate about sharing it. He is extremely friendly and a skilled pilot. From takeoff to landing, the ride was silky smooth. This tour is highly recommended.

An open cockpit biplane blows any other tour out of the water!! Definitely a memorable way to explore the Smokies. The pilot is knowledgeable of the area and an experienced pilot (which makes you feel safe even if you are a bit squeamish).

Our planes fit 2 people on a 32-inch seat. These biplanes also operate on a 400lb maximum.
