  • Number 9 says to Visit the Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community. I think this should be #1 because this place has some of the very best that Gatlinburg has to offer. You can spend a full day or more driving from workshop to gallery, with easy free parking at every stop. With one stop at a place like Jim Gray Gallery, in the old church building, you can visit the Cliff Dwellers Shop, Future Relics Pottery, Fox Hill Gallery and the six Shops at Powdermill. All these are in historic old structures that have been converted to artist studios, galleries, and work shops.

From there you can go on to Paul Murray Gallery and G Webb Gallery that are each in their own wonderfully restored old farm houses. Coming on around the loop you'll find Turtle Hollow and when you get back to the begining, be sure to stop by the shops at Buie's Landing, right across form the Golden arches.

If you find the downtown too busy for your liking, drive out to this eight mile Arts Loop and relax and enjoy the beauty and creativeness of the Smokies in a new way.

  • I could (and have) spend a whole vacation hiking. There are so many wonderful trails in this area. You could take a short hike on one of the many "quiet walkways" or take a hike to last all day. You can chose from waterfalls amazing views historic places ect. depending on your interests. The national park is always free and is the reason gatlinburg became such a popular vacation area.
